The New Shell Design - Natural Looking Weighted Walnut Shells
I have found that a little heavier walnut shell can work better in many ways if the walnut shell is easy to grip.
All of the new bronze Weighted Shell Set Series is easy to have a good grip with the extra weight.
These inside weighted shells are about 1 ounce in weight per shell. Not to heavy and not to light, that are easy to grip.
Most heavy walnut shells that have been made are all made of metal from the inside and out.
This is fine if you want an unnatural flashy-looking walnut shell.
Most all-metal shells are polished on the outside that can also make them more slippery where the shell can slip out from your fingers with the extra weight.
This new shell design brings a realistic-looking walnut shell with good added weight from the inside of the shell.
This is a two-casting process where the first casting is done with a natural walnut-colored resin for the outer layer of the shell.
The second casting is done with a cold cast bronze metal material that bonds to the outer layer to bring the added weight to the inside of the shell. The inside of the shell is a dark brown finish that is not polished out.
This brings a natural-looking color contrast shell that handles and works great.
You will find these shells to bring a smooth pea steal and a pea load without any unwanted shell movement.
At this time they are only made with the classic type shell bottom. The shells can work with a soft pea or a cork ball.
If the shells are used with a cork ball it brings all the features of the bottom ridged type shell.
Where you have full control of the cork ball of staying inside the shell or coming out of the shell for the ball steal.

Most walnut shells can be taken in a more natural way to fit between the fingers with the V-Grip.
Most take the shells in the V-grip from the back of the walnut shell. This is not the best fit for V-gripping most walnut shells.
As the shape of most walnut shells the V tip of the shell is at the front of the shell, not the back of the shell.
I recommend taking these shells between the fingers from the front of the shell. Because the front of a walnut shell has a natural V-shape to fit the fingers well when gripping the shell between the fingers, as shown above.
I think the reason this handling is not done with other shells is the player would see the hole at the back of the shell that most shells have. Many try to justify this hole by saying it is from where the walnut was broken off of the tree stem.
No matter how you try to justify it, it is still a visual escape hole for the pea and is not needed.
Especially with these weighted shells. All of our shells have entire flat bottom surface. The inside of the shell also has entire inside bottom rim taper. The soft pea will never lift the shell.
Also, gripping the shells this way can work well as a subtle way of showing that the shells have an entirely flat surface.
If using a cork ball only a slight level lift is needed when stealing or loading a ball.
The "Pro Starter Shells" and all of the shell sets on the 3shells.com website have no visual gimmick clues.
They look like fair shells.

The Hefty shells are the largest of the weighted shell series. The size of these shells makes them very visible when performing for larger crowds. The two pictures above are my hands, which are med. size hands. Yes, I can take all three shells in a V grip and turn the shells up and over off the surface. to display The 3 shell V grip is done a little differently with larger type shells.
The thumb and index finger take hold from the front of the first shell. The index finger and second finger take hold from the front of the second shell. The second finger and third finger take hold from the front of the third shell. This leaves the baby finger free.
